1st South Section Messac

David Hughes - £500.00

Dave is a 70 year old retired Carpenter and Joiner and
still works part time as a school Caretaker to pay for
his birds.
Dave's winner is a blue hen Van Elsacker Jepsen raced
on widowhood and is bred from a pair of birds from
Mike Parker of Meastes, Wales. Dave came into the
sport in 1947 when a stray pigeon took up residence
with his bantams. He joined The Windsor R.P.C. in
partnership with his Father in 1951 until 1966. He
married and still races from their present address.
Dave has held every position in The Windsor Club
except Treasurer.
He flew North Road from 1956 until 1990, then turned
South to race in The National and this National race he
tops Section E and takes 4th Open.
Dave will be donating a young bird off this brilliant
hen in the Croddy Nom Action
This week's Tips.
If you can fix training baskets to your young bird loft so your birds can go in and out of the basket as they please. Drop
a little corn in the basket now and again, they will be in the basket in no time to get the corn. Go into the loft, close the
basket door and you have your young birds basketed for training much quicker (less stress, less dust) This is a big help
when training your birds.
NOTE: Put a drinker on your basket while on the loft, this helps to get them used to drinking while in the basket
If your young bird are ready for ringing do it when you feed the parents. This way you will not have to take the parents off
them stops the danger of the young birds being damaged by the old birds trying to protect them.Check for slipped rings
for a couple of days. Once again check this when you feed the parents.
CORRECTION
The winner of The South Section in our first race from Fougeres was Howes Parson Partnership not M.R. Staddon
