New Transporters

At the committee meeting held on Wednesday 19th April, 2006 the following was recorded: -

It was proposed by Mr. P. Naum and seconded by Mr. N. Henley to rescind the following motion passed at the committee meeting held on 22nd February, 2006: -

It was proposed by Mr. J. Tyreman and seconded by Mr. M. McGrevy that as a last resort, for the race program to be from the North: -  with the race points being Berwick, Perth, Frazerborough, Thurso and Lerwick as the Grand National and Berwick as the YB & OH race.  This program will be implemented by the 15th April, failing all other options and to revert back to South Road if things open.

The options are: -  1st Option, French Race Points;  2nd Option, Guernsey / Belgium, Spain, whatever is open;  3rd Option, North.  This was carried.

11 votes to rescind, and 2 against.  Carried.

It was proposed by Mr. R King and seconded by Mr. B Stansfield for the first race to be Sennen Cove on the 10th and the second race to be Sennen Cove on the 24th June, then look to race from Ireland.  No vote was taken on this proposal.

It was proposed by Mr. B. Long and seconded by Mr. N. Henley to fly from Sennen Cove for the first two races dates being the 10th June and the 24th June.  The rest of the race program to be decided by a sub committee consisting of the President Mr. F. J. Sharman, the Chairman Mr. R. Stretton, Race Advisor Mr. B. Long, the Honorary Treasurer Mr. P. Naum and Life Vice President Mr. K. Hanby.  It was pointed out that should racing be allowed from France then the N.F.C. will revert back to France.   This was carried.

It is worth noting that the committee made this decision due to the fact that the expected number of birds being sent to Sennen Cove would be far more than elsewhere and therefore better financially for the N.F.C.

It is also relevant to point out to members the reason why the race dates have changed, the following was recorded: -

A letter from Cosby Suppliers, the builders of the new transporters was read out to the committee regarding the building of the trailer units.  The correspondence highlighted that the first trailer is ready and working but the second trailer may not or will not be ready for the first race on the 20th May.  It also highlighted that the outer shell of the second trailer may not be completed in days prior to the second race.  Mr. B. Stansfield gave an explanation of why there is a delay in the second trailer.

Also A.I. and time itself, have been taken into consideration in changing race dates, in the hope of D.E.F.R.A. allowing racing from outside the British Isles in the near future!
